How it works

A fundraiser people may actually want to attend.

A library friends group, school PTA, arts council, church hall or other registered 501(c)(3) can turn the complete Picture Show into a simple local event.

The event itself

Not another silent auction.

This is Edward Lear’s nonsense verse, sung by Suzanne Birrell and animated in cut paper and fabric. It works for children, but it has enough craft, language and sly absurdity for the grown-ups who bring them.

Ten short films. About 45 minutes. One complete little world.

Your organization brings the room and the audience. Calico Pie brings the show, the screening player, the fundraiser code and the post-event purchase trail.

What you actually get

Small fee. Clear rules. No mystery machinery.

Everything below is in the Fundraiser Screening license, which is one page.

What your organization keeps

100% of the admission or donations you collect for the screening, plus 20% of qualifying Calico Pie purchases made with your code during the fundraiser window.

That means the event can work even before a single guest buys anything afterward.

  • One screening, on one date, at one venue, in the United States
  • Your key works for 48 hours around your date, so you can test the night before
  • Your fundraiser code runs from the day before the event through the 30th day after it
  • We pay your 20% about 30 days after the code ends, with a statement of sales
  • Credit the screening: “Presented by arrangement with Birrell Jones Productions · calicopie.com”
  • No recording, re-uploading or streaming the films online

Questions

The practical stuff.

What do we need to run it?

A computer with a web browser, connected to a projector or TV, a sound system and an internet connection. The films stream in full HD; about 5 Mbps is enough.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes. It is Edward Lear’s nonsense verse, sung by Suzanne Birrell and animated in cut paper and fabric. It plays well for children and for the grown-ups who bring them.

Can we show it more than once?

This license covers one screening on your date. For a second screening, book another date. Libraries and schools that want to show it regularly can ask us about a site license.

What if our EIN isn’t found?

We check the IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File through ProPublica’s Nonprofit Explorer. If yours is new or has changed, contact us and we will confirm it by hand.

How do people use our code?

The QR code on the end card opens CalicoPie.com with your code already filled in. People can also type it in on the Season Pass page. The code never changes the price they pay.

How and when are we paid?

About 30 days after your code ends, by check or bank transfer, with a list of the sales. We ask for a W-9 before the first payment.

Forty-five peculiar minutes can do some good.

Put people in a room, give them something worth watching, and let the ticket money stay where it belongs: with your organization.
